The PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) revoked the directives it had issued on July 6 ordering the removal of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Jagtar Singh Hawara’s images from buses operated by the government on July 11. A Babbar Khalsa terrorist named Hawara is currently serving a life sentence for killing Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. Sikh organisations in Punjab protested the instructions when they were issued on July 6 and vowed to mutiny if they were not overturned by tuesday.

The directives to remove Bhindranwale images off buses were reversed by PRTC.
According to a letter sent out by PRTC Patiala, the corporation had received an email complaint from the government over the pictures. The Corporation had issued orders to remove the images after the state government instructed PRTC to take the proper action. However, numerous religious organisations claimed their religious emotions were injured by the PRTC instructions, and the order was subsequently revoked. ADG Law and Order, Punjab, stated in a letter dated June 28 that the Police were made aware of the buses exhibiting images of Jagtar Singh Hawara and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale along with obscene slogans.
