CM Yogi’s power continues in UP. After the assembly, in the Legislative Council i.e. MLC elections, the opposition has been cleared under his leadership. BJP has won 33 seats. Bahubali candidates managed to block his path in only three seats. But the favorable thing for BJP is that now it will have a majority in the Legislative Council. After 40 years this charisma has happened in UP.

With the charisma of the BJP, these elections were a cause of great confusion for the SP. Akhilesh lost the trust of his loved ones in his own stronghold. Shivpal in Etawah and Azam Khan in Rampur ruined all his game plans. Even after wishing, he could not win his candidates on a single seat. Seeing the election results, it is clear that Akhilesh’s hold on the party is weak.

95 candidates were trying their luck in the fray . BJP’s MLCs have already been elected unopposed in nine seats in the elections for 36 seats of the Legislative Council. Voting for the remaining 27 seats was held last Saturday. The election was believed to be a direct contest between the ruling BJP and the SP. Congress and BSP did not field any candidate in the election. But in the election, the SP’s swamp was cleared.

The fate of BJP in UP was warned in 2017 after 15 years. But even after being in power for five years, he could not get majority in the Legislative Council. Even before this BJP was in power in the state but could never get the majority figure in the council. This time BJP has got majority. This is the first time in 40 years that a party will have an absolute majority. Before this, in 1982, the Congress had an absolute majority.

The majority mark in the 100-member UP Legislative Council is 51. At present there are 34 MLCs of BJP. SP has 17 seats. The rest are four from the BSP, one from the Congress, and one from the Apna Dal (Sonelal). Two MLC teachers are from Kota, while two are independent and one is from Nishad Party. 36 seats of the Legislative Council had become vacant due to the end of the term of the members on March 7. The 37th seat fell vacant due to the death of Leader of Opposition Ahmed Hassan. Of these, elections were held on 36. However, BJP already had 43 MLCs after winning nine seats unopposed.

The BJP has won 33 seats in the results after the polling for 27 seats on April 9. 2 seats went to independent candidates. Raja Bhaiya’s Jansatta Dal has won one seat. In this election, MPs, MLAs, all heads, area panchayat members and presidents, district panchayat members and presidents along with municipal councilors, mayors, members and presidents of city panchayats voted.
