15th August- the day marked in red as our Independence Day, is a day that reminds me of the Tricolour hoisted in the air, Tricolour flags pinned on clothes, songs of Mahakavi Subramania Bharatiyar and chocolates.

Let us be honest, our Independence struggle began with Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj himself, continued onto the 1857 struggle for independence, then culminated into the Armed Force Revolt of 1946 that broke the backbone of the British and dreams of colonialism was shattered forever. Our history textbooks, never revealed the truth behind our history- it was a Marxist distortion. If we must know how we gained independence, we must read the great, Acharya RC Majumdar- but we must ask ourselves, are we truly independent?

To say that we are sovereign, is nothing but a joke. Look at the number of illegal immigrants in this nation. Look at the illegal occupation of China in Ladakh and Kashmir and the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Pakistan. Look at the intellectual sovereignty of ourselves. Look at our demographics- the long forgotten North-east perhaps, or even, Andhra Pradesh?

Are we even aware, that the first Prime Minister of this nation, was not even democratically elected and that Mohandas Gandhi had lobbied for him, instead of Sardar Vallabhai Patel? Are we aware of his deep disdain for Hindus and his several blunders, that are coloured as “intellectualism” because of his White accent and taste?

How can we even celebrate Independence when we have three universities (funded by taxpayers) in India that are grounds for secessionist forces? How can we celebrate Independence when we don’t know who got us our Independence? How can we celebrate Independence when there have been several secessionist forces, still continuing, across the nation? How can we celebrate Independence, when there are brainless junkies screaming for “Azaadi” from various sources, most prominently, from Hindus? How can we even celebrate Independence when there are ISIS recruits from the land of Parashurama Bhargava? How can we even celebrate Independence when the youth, and old, do not know history at all? How can we even celebrate Independence when there is extreme hatred spewed on Hindus and Hindus alone, because any word against others, invite riots? (Hint: Bangalore)

You get the drift.

The only thing that we can celebrate is that, there no British present in this land. But, colonial slavery genes, colonised minds and Abrahamic worldview instead of Dharmic worldview, still grips us?

We will only be independent, when the Hindu civilisation sees a resurgence or a renaissance. This comes only in two ways- repealing Places of Worship Act, 1991 and freeing Hindu temples from state control. Unless Dharmic minded Hindus have the will power and a feedback from the Hindu community towards these causes will usher in what the Hindu community, only resorts to, on social media. It is impossible to imagine, what our sadhus, Shankaracharyas, Ramanujacharyas, Madhwacharyas, Naga Sadhus etc undergo, merely for wearing saffron robes. Independence will come only when they are respected and their sayings are respected, even if their views are disagreeable. We see the number of videos and posts that abuse such Dharmarakshakas and Dharma-sthapatis, but we see the consequences of talking smack about others.

The day of Independence is when, we can sing Jayostute, in the same heartbeat as Jana Gana Mana, without inhibition. I dream for that day, when I can live as a dignified Hindu, in an independent country, that has risen from its Imperialistic and Colonial slumber, and transformed into a Dharmic civilisational state. I shall yearn for that day, hopefully in this lifetime, in my pitrbhoomi, matrbhoomi, punyabhoomi and hopefully, remains my karmabhoomi too.
