Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has clarified that if half of the government is on Twitter including the prime minister of India as well as the president of India, it shows how fair this platform is. But twitter lost the ‘Social Media Intermediaries’ status.
In other words, if any inadequate or violent content goes viral, then the platform’s top executive may face criminal liability under the Indian Penal Code for ‘unlawful and inflammatory content posted by the user’. Now Twitter will not be treated as a third party in India, nothing like ban is going to happen.
