France’s National Assembly on Tuesday,15.02.2021, passed a law against Islamist extremism and separatism to address the root causes of jihadist violence as reported by France 24.

This law is enacted in response to a wave of jihadi attacks that has claimed more than 250 lives since 2015 in France. French MPs approved this bill to combat Islamist extremism.

Notably, on the day the bill was passed France celebrated the 115th year anniversary of law that enshrined the Separation Of State & Religion.

President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist party, with 347 MPs voted in favour of the law, while 151 against and 65 abstaining. The text will now be submitted to the upper house, the Senate, where Macron’s party does not hold a majority.

This law was branded by the left as an attack on Islam and the right wing parties also opposed the law as it felt it was too weak to combat Islamic jihad and terrorism.

This law would further enhance the government’s powers to close religious organisations and places of worship if they are found to air “theories or ideas” that “provoke hate or violence”.

The legislation protects the moderate community leaders who are in danger of being toppled by an extremist “putsch”.

The law also requires all associations desirous of state subsidies to commit in writing to uphold the liberal enlightenment “republican values” that France holds dear.

A very important provision of this law with an aim to to crack down on religious funding from countries Islamic countries like Turkey, Qatar or Saudi Arabia, requires associations receiving funds from these countries to declare donations over €10,000 euros and have their accounts certified.

This law also enacts a new criminal provision to punish threatening a public servant in order to gain “a total or partial exemption or different application of the rules” would be punishable by up to five years in prison. This provision is very significant as Islamists in minority claim exemptions from following law of the land under the pretext of special minority rights as it is the case in India too.

The law also provides for stricter criteria for authorising home schooling of children over three years old to prevent parents taking their children out of public schools and enrolling them in underground Madrasas, which radicalise children from a very young age.

The law also penalises Doctors with fine and jail terms if they conduct virginity test on girls. The law also discourages polygamy by denying residency status to polygamous applicants. This is a very good move as it would also deny polygamous people from enjoying state subsidy and benefits.

This legislation comes in wake of the October 16 stabbing and beheading of a teacher, Samuel Paty by a Chechen Islamist militant taking offence to the display of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in a class on freedom of expression.

The gruesome murder of Paty sparked outrage across France with French people demanding stricter laws to curb the menace of Islamic jihad. Macron cracked down on Islamist extremism and violence in a country reeling from a wave of jihadist attacks since 2015 that have killed more than 250 people.

FRANCE 24 International Affairs Editor Philip Turle welcomed the law and said, “With what has been happening in France over the past few years and more recently, the government just can’t sit back and let this happen; it has to take some radical measures to stop this from continuing and getting worse”.

India dealing with Islamic Jihad for the past 1400 years is unfortunately eulogising its own barbaric jihadi invaders and mass murderers in its school textbooks.

Right in the heart of the national capital last week a Hindu activist was brutally lynched by a jihadi mob of neighbourhood Muslims just because they did not like him chanting “Jai Shri Ram” and collecting money for the re-construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya over 500 years after it was demolished by Islamist Jihadi invader Babur.

India needs very strict laws against Islamic jihad and Islamic extremism. To start with India should ban polygamy, offer no special privileges to Muslims in the name of minority rights and strictly ban teaching of Quran’s verses on Kafirs to young Muslims.

If India does not take the menace of Islamic jihad seriously and keeps pandering them it would only result in mainstreaming of Islamic jihad against Hindus, as we can now see the leftists lauding jihadis for spewing venom against Hindus and Hinduism.

So, if we do not want the whole country to become a veritable Islamic state like Kashmir we will need strict laws against Islamic jihad, France has made some baby steps towards tackling the menace India should take similar initiatives regardless of global pressure trumped up by the leftists and jihadis.
