In a blow to the Waqf board, Karnataka high court stays the order halting Ganesh poojan at Idgah ground. After the decision of Karnataka HC of halting the celebration at Idgah, Lord Ganapati has finally been installed at Idgah ground in Hubli on Wednesday morning. The High Court, during the late night hearing on Tuesday, dismissed the petition challenging the permission to organize Ganesh Chaturthi and said that there is no dispute over the land where the Idgah is located.

In addition, the Bommai government of Karnataka had said that this time Ganesh Utsav will be celebrated at Idgah in Hubli. It was considered a big order. The Waqf Board got furious about this matter and reached the Supreme Court. Kapil Sibal did the work of advocating for the Waqf Board once again in court. The Supreme Court did not give any judgment in the matter and ordered status quo with respect to the Idgah land, saying that the High Court would decide on the ownership of 2.5 acres of land. After that, the Karnataka High Court gave its decision on the petition late at night and it was decided that Ganeshotsav would be held at Idgah ground in Hubli.

According to media reports, the Karnataka High Court, while hearing the same matter on Tuesday afternoon, upheld the approval given by the Municipal Corporation of Hubli, Dharwad for the three-day worship of Gauri Ganesh at the Idgah ground. The court had also dismissed the petition filed by Anjuman-e-Islam. However, after the Supreme Court’s decision on the Idgah Maidan case in Bengaluru, Hubli’s Anjuman-e-Islam Sanstha once again approached the High Court. The petition was heard in the chamber of Justice Ashok S Kinagi and the court gave its decision after hearing the arguments.

Organizing Ganeshotsav in Idgah is considered a big deal because it has been seen that only people of a particular community are always able to offer prayers on such lands and no such permission is given to the people of other communities. Meanwhile, the most important thing is that the Karnataka High Court has made it clear in its decision that there is no dispute regarding the land of Idgah.

In such a situation, now the decision to organize Ganeshotsav in Idgah has proved that the Bommai government is also in full action mode regarding Hindutva issues in Karnataka.
