The Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi presented citizenship certificates to a number of Pakistani Hindu refugees on 22nd of August who had moved to Ahmedabad in the past and had sought for Indian citizenship . The Gujarati minister informed about this on Twitter. In a tweet BJP leader Dhaval Patel too stated that 1032 Hindu migrants have already been granted citizenship in Gujarat under BJP rule.

Addressing all 24 individuals, Sanghavi said: “I welcome you all as brothers and sisters of this big country… hope like all of us here, you too will join the development motto, and we promise you all that we will extend support to you all for your growth and progress.”

Sanghvi had received thanks from the refugees at the time. Valbhai Namodi, a woman with tears in her eyes, informed the minister that she had been waiting for this time for years and that her perseverance had finally paid off. Another lady Kesarben Shankarchand who is studying to make a career in the aviation sector thanked the government for granting her citizenship. Shankarchand informed to the minister that her family had been waiting for 16 years to get Indian citizenship. Kesarbhai Sankalchand, a 22-year-old Hindu from Pakistan, described the occasion as the best day of her life and stated, “Now I will be able to complete my graduation and fulfil our dreams in my country India”.
