After the death of Siddhu Moosewala, many youngsters and celebrities from across the world came together to attribute him with the term “legend”. Just a few days after his death, the song of Sidhu Moosewala, SYL was released whose every word was an attack on the sovereignty of Bharat. The lyrics & visuals of the song were about a disputed SYL Canal which dangerously provoked violence, glorified terrorism, & tried to fuel the fire of ‘self-sovereignty’ in an already struggling nation with anarchism.

The lyrics of the song could be translated as “until you satisfy our sovereignty, forget about water, we won’t spare a drop of water (of rivers of Punjab)”. We must note that the Sutlej Yamuna Link project offers Ravi & Beas water sharing between Punjab & Haryana , which was inaugurated by Late PM Indira Gandhi in 1982. Moosewala talks about giving Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh to Punjab. On 1966, post-independence and trilingual state of Punjab was divided into 3 states, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh on the basis of language. The project has bloodied history of protests & killings in 80’s, the peak of KhaI!stan & Bhindrenwala. The song warned “If govt won’t back off, Jathana will come again”, referring Babbar KhaIsa terrorist Balwinder Jathana who killed 2 SYL engineers in Chandigarh in 1990. The song gloried Jattana who was the terrorist who killed 2 senior engineers working on the SYL project in Chandigarh. Jattana was affiliated with Babbar Khalsa terrorist outfit, the Ropar resident Jattana killed Chief Engineer and the Superintending Engineer working on the SYL project in 1990.The song ends with the infamous speech in the background of Satyapal Malik who threatened that govt should not mess with Sikhs as “they never forget”. They killed Indira Gandhi, Gen Vaidya (who run Operation Blue Star), Gen Dyer (Jalianwala Bagh).

Further, in the very next line, Moosewala says that after ‘returning’ Haryana and Himachal Pradesh to Punjab, complete sovereignty should be provided to Punjab else they will not give any water to anyone. This demand for sovereignty for a state is only a step short of demanding a separate Khalistan. The song also went on to warn that if there is no alternative way then Balwinder Jattana will return. Jattana was the terrorist who killed 2 senior engineers working on the SYL project in Chandigarh. Affiliated with Babbar Khalsa terrorist outfit, the Ropar resident Jattana killed Chief Engineer and the Superintending Engineer working on the SYL project in 1990.
