Eventually, an NIA court found Yasin Malik guilty in terror funding and other cases and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Since the decision was delayed, it can be satisfied to a certain extent. Such judgments only show that justice delayed is injustice. Yasin Malik was not only involved in terrorist activities himself, but also used to help other terrorists in every way. He killed four Air Force officers and kidnapped Rubia Sayeed, the daughter of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, who was the Home Minister during the VP Singh government, and Mehbooba Mufti’s sister. It is believed that it was not a kidnapping, but a conspiracy to free the terrorists and some people of the Jammu and Kashmir government were also involved in it. When the dreaded terrorists were released in exchange for the release of Rubia Saeed, the audacity of the terrorists reached its peak and tried to kill Kashmiri Hindus, Incidents of bullying intensified. When Yasin Malik’s accomplices killed Judge Neelkanth Ganju, who sentenced JKLF leader Maqbool Butt to death, Kashmiri Hindus found it difficult to live there and began to flee on a large scale.

Other cases of Yasin Malik are yet to be heard. It remains to be seen what punishment he gets in these cases. In view of the kind of terrorist acts he has committed, he should be given capital punishment. In any case, it is difficult to understand why he was released from prison in 1994. As soon as he was released from jail, he started calling himself a Gandhian. Surprisingly, many intellectuals, leaders and journalists started calling him a real Gandhian and also started helping him in every way. As a result, he was invited to various programs. He also started meeting top leaders of the government. He also met the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with the separatist and pro-Pakistan leaders of the Hurriyat Conference and before that Atal Bihari Vajpayee. During the Vajpayee government, he was also provided with a passport. After that, America Started traveling to Britain and Pakistan. Going to Pakistan, he also shared the stage with terrorist gangster Hafiz Saeed.

Someone should tell that when Yasin Malik was getting money from Pakistan and was also instigating terrorism in Kashmir at his behest, then why so much kindness was being shown to him? It should also be revealed that who were those people, who, despite knowing about the dark past of Yasin Malik, were engaged in calling him the Messiah of peace? Those who did this not only glorified a terrorist, but also complicated the Kashmir problem and encouraged those elements who were chanting the slogan of Kashmir’s independence. It is good that the NIA court has found that there is sufficient evidence to treat organizations like Hurriyat Conference and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat as terrorist gangs. Isn’t it shameful that such organizations were given legitimacy by our governments themselves and created an environment that they can be helpful in solving the Kashmir problem? The problem of Kashmir started at the same time, When after independence the Pakistani army attacked in the valley in the guise of tribals. In this attack, Pakistan captured some part of Jammu and Kashmir, as the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru called off the ceasefire against the advice of the army and took the matter to the United Nations. There the matter got confused. After this, Nehru made Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir and gave it some special rights. These privileges led to isolation and then panic. Due to these privileges, Pakistan got an opportunity to intervene in Kashmir and it started sending terrorist groups there. This trend still continues. The situation in Kashmir started changing when Narendra Modi took over the power of the Center in 2014. Whenever Pakistan did some nefarious act in Kashmir, then India taught it a lesson – first through surgical strike and then through air strike. In its second term, the Modi government took a bold decision to remove Article 370 and 35A. It was because of the Modi government that Yasin Malik was arrested and punished, but action is yet to be taken against so many people like him. After all, what is the reason that the ongoing cases against Pakistani agents like Shabir Shah, Masrat Alam, Engineer Rashid, Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali or terrorists like Bitta Karate are not gaining momentum and that too when they are accused of waging war against the country and Are there serious allegations of helping terrorists? Investigative agencies are also responsible for this question and also the slowness of the judiciary.

It will be challenged in higher courts. It would be better if the higher courts show promptness. Kashmir’s political parties and Pakistan-funded terrorist organizations should not be allowed to spoil the atmosphere of Kashmir at all. Keep in mind that it keeps on trying. The reason for this is that in the last three and a half decades, terrorists like Yasin Malik and organizations like Hurriyat Conference and their sympathizers have mixed so much poison in the heat of Kashmir that it is not going to go away easily. It cannot be ignored that the terrorists are still running their activities in Kashmir with the support of the local people. They keep targeting non-Kashmiris along with the security forces and especially the Kashmiri Hindus living there. In view of this sequence, it is unlikely that Kashmiri Hindus will be able to return to Kashmir at the moment. The apprehension is that even the remaining Kashmiri Hindus may not leave the Valley. This way It would not be correct in me to believe that the situation in Kashmir will change just by the sentencing of Yasin Malik. A lot still needs to be done to change the situation. What is left to be done in Kashmir, only by completing it, can the democratic process be taken forward in the right way.
