In a major decision, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir Administration has decided to ban all the educational institutions that are being run by Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), which is an affiliate of the proscribed Jamat-e-Islami organization. It is being ordered that all educational institutions run by the Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) will be sealed within 15 days. Over 300 schools are run by Jamat-e-Islami affiliate FAT

The government decided to close these schools after receiving a report from the Special Investigation Agency (SIA) claiming that they are being used as a seminary for teaching hatred and caustic rhetoric. According to the SIA’s assessment, these ‘radicalised at a young age’ youths go on to become hardline secessionists. The order has come after repeated target killings of Hindus are taking place in the valley. The order also says that the students enrolled in these ‘banned institutions’ can get themselves enrolled in the nearby government schools for the current session.
