India has foiled Pakistan’s efforts to designate an Indian citizen as a terrorist. Four more countries supported India in this work. Pakistan had presented a resolution in the United Nations to declare Indian national Gobinda Patnaik Duggiwalasa as a terrorist.

Pakistan wanted that Duggiwalasa should be included in the list of international terrorists of the UN, but India did not allow its plans to be fulfilled. Pakistan says that Duggiwalasa has been involved in terrorist attacks in his country, so the 1267 Committee of the UN Security Council should pass this resolution and declare him a terrorist.

Britain, America, France and Albania supported India

The four countries that supported India in rejecting this proposal of Pakistan are Britain, America, France and Albania. Three of these countries Britain, America and France are permanent members of the Security Council, while Albania is the President of the Security Council this month. In 2020 too, the same five countries including India rejected Pakistan’s proposal to declare Duggiwalasa a terrorist.

Pakistan’s attempt to once again include Duggiwalasa in the list of international terrorists is being seen as a waste of the UN Security Council’s time.

On this, India’s Ambassador to the United Nations TS Tirumurti said that Pakistan is trying to politicize the 1267 special process on terrorism by giving it a religious color. The development comes at a time when China last week blocked India’s efforts to include Lashkar-e-Taiba’s second-in-command Abdul Rehman Makki in the UN terrorist list.

The resolution was jointly presented by India and the US on June 1 and was circulated to the members of the UN Security Council 1267 Committee.

America has placed a bounty of two million dollars on Makki. The governments of America and India have declared him a terrorist under domestic rules. He is a relative of 26/11 attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and has close links with al-Qaeda’s Ayman al-Zawahiri and Taliban bosses. This move of China in favor of Makki is being seen as Pakistan’s support in the UN.

Who is Gobinda Patnaik Duggiwalasa

According to reports, Gobinda Patnaik Duggivalasa used to work in a consulting company in Kabul. Indian security forces had safely evacuated him from Kabul on 17 November 2019 as there were fears that Pakistani agencies might kidnap him. According to Indian security agencies, Pakistan had plans to project Duggiwalasa as a terrorist with the help of China.
