From many years Hindus have faced a barrage of narratives aimed at vitiating our thought process and making us swing between extreme admiration for our ancient knowledge systems and extreme hatred for our practices and rituals. It is a fact that ours is the only remnant of the civilizations of yore, which is still alive and by and large following its age-old practices and rituals. When it became obvious that Hindus are still unwilling to fully follow other cultures, attempt was made in a different way to destroy the remnants of this culture and that is by twisting our thought process. In this article I would like to point out to some of the various catch phrases which every Hindu comes across and has in fact started believing in without giving it more thought because it sounds rational and balanced. In our simple-minded acceptance of the wisdom of the world, we have failed to see the deep-rooted conspiracy behind such “wisdom”. The packaging is so beautiful that we are unable to value correctly and discard the product. In this article I shall attempt to present some of these concepts & how they are harming our Hindu society & our ancient wisdom. It is a long article, so bear with me…

LIVE IN THE PRESENT

This in my opinion is one of the most harmful statements given out to subjugate our thought process. In my experience this sentence is most quoted by modern Gurus, new learners about Buddhism, those who learn from Westerners about Meditation and so on. In Bharatiya philosophy we always taught people about Viveka or Awareness about one’s thoughts and deeds. But it was never restricted to only the present. Yes, you set right the present, the future goes on well, but to say that one must live in the present is such a short-sighted view. I say this emphatically because it is obvious today that enemies of Hindu Dharma have planned 25+ years in the past about how they wanted to tackle our country and today too, they are planning for 25+ years in the future. That is why today we are realizing how some of our border States have been converted into Christianity or Islam and how our Films have furthered their agenda via characters/songs/stories. Look at one of the biggest Buddhist country – China – they have sold this idea to the world but they themselves are planning coup after coup on smaller nations by helping them in the present so that they are indebted in the future. These cultures live in the future & feed us nonsense about living in the present & like sheep with their eyes covered with wool, we have done it. Ancient Bharat always thought about the future – in fact our biggest achievement has been that our wisdom has been TIMELESS. Look at the Bhagwad Gita; its wisdom is guiding people till today. Our farming methods, our astronomy, our calculations, everything is Ageless … this is only because we believed in looking at the Past, Present and Future. All our Bhagwans & Bhagawatis are spoken about in all 3 tenses, not just the Present. So folks, quit thinking only about the present – live in the future too. See clearly how we could be destroyed & work today to prevent that. See clearly how we can be a powerhouse again in the future & work today to become that.

SARVA-DHARMA SAMABHAVA

Another completely harmful philosophy when the other religions which originated outside Bharat are aiming only to destroy our Dharma. A recent happening in Karnataka will explain how we have completely stopped thinking logically. Girl students of a school were prevented from entering the school because they came wearing the hijaab. Some sections of the Media, a few liberals and many Muslims turned it into a major issue by saying that it “restricted their freedom to practice their religion”. Since this was made into a big issue, Hindu students with some short-sighted advice from their elders, started wearing a saffron shawl & went to school to compete with the “freedom to practice their religion”. Unfortunately no one thought for a minute the difference between a hijaab which covers everything including the face and everything carried by the person & a simple slim saffron shawl. And Hindus are praising this as if they are giving a tough fight to the Muslim students!!! The actual issue is that of Radicalisation (indeed forcing young girls below the age of 21 to cover themselves from head to toe is radicalization), Indiscipline, Safety and Choice (there are Muslims who do not wear a Burkha/Hijaab) but all this has been swept away under a perverted sense of Equality of showing off one’s religious symbol. Why did this happen? This happened because we have been fooled into thinking that those religions which actively promote hatred for those who do not believe in their “God” is the same as our Dharma. We actually believe today that “All religions are equal and lead to the same God”. NO. We may want it to, but the fact is that it doesn’t. So, wisdom is in understanding this while respecting the fact that we cannot do away with other religions & so we co-exist with awareness and safeguards in place.

THINK OF YOURSELF FIRST, THEN OTHERS

If you have travelled by air, you would have heard the air-hostess telling you, “Put the mask on yourself first before helping others”. “Help yourself before you help others”, “look after yourself”, “give time to yourself” is the advice constantly given especially to women via whatsapp forwards, wisdom bytes on various platforms, self-help lectures, etc. This advice is absolutely contrary to what we have been taught in our Hindu scriptures. In fact the Bhagwad Gita talks about us treating this life and our actions as a Yajna (Yagya), where every action has to be for the larger good/society/world and not for the self. It tells us specifically not to seek the rewards for our actions, for ourselves. Contrast this to what happened during the first wave of COVID 19. People did not step up to receive their own parents/children/spouse when they came back from hospital, alive or dead. Thousands of bodies were left rotting outside morgues/hospitals/cemeteries and did not even receive the final Agni (fire) from their close ones. Is this what our ancient culture teaches us? If women were to only look after themselves first before thinking of their families, it would help modern feminism but would it help in the mental health of the children & other family members? The woman of the house is the rudder because of which the family ship stays safe and afloat and gets direction. If she becomes selfish what will be the state of the world in the future? If men started thinking about using their entire income only for themselves instead of the family, what would happen to our society? So Hindus please stop falling for this apparently sensible advice which actually is a cover for selfish living. Imagine if our Armed forces started believing in this…

VARNAS ARE GOOD, JAATI IS BAD

From the time I was born, I kept hearing that Casteism is the biggest evil perpetrated on man by Hinduism. I too believed in this initially. Till I read about the French Revolution and how many of the French nobles were saved by the British and it was treated as bravery and the noble thing to do. Then I realized that for the White man, Royalty were a special class called Blue Bloods and they had to be respected. But our Hindu Kshatriyas, Brahmins and Vaishyas were “Upper Castes” who had treated others very badly and hence the others became the “downtrodden” class & the “untouchables” and Dalits. I kept wondering why we never had a bloody revolution like the French Revolution where the downtrodden decapitated ruthlessly the Nobles (their Upper Castes). Then I learnt that Brahmins lived mainly on Daan and Bhiksha in the past, that our Kshatriyas lay down their lives to protect Dharma, without a second thought and that our Vaishyas did their business as per the laws of Dharma & had travelled around the world without destroying the cultures of foreign lands (unlike the other invaders who came to India to trade). Also I read about how the downtrodden were also responsible for building some fine Temples, making great inventions in metallurgy, science, medicine, etc. and knew how to protect our water bodies, trees, environment and cattle and lived in synergy with nature. They did not actually think of the so-called “upper castes” as their enemies, till they were taught to by the British (post zamindari system) and later by the “educated” Leftists of our country. Till today when I get messages about how it is not necessary to be a Brahmin to be a Teacher or be a Kshatriya to safeguard the Nation, I marvel at the endless stupidity of the sender of such a message. It would have been impossible for only Brahmins to teach because I wonder which Brahmin would have known about all the herbs in the forest or about melting iron and how only Kshatriyas could have fought against the invaders when we all talk incessantly about Chanakya – didn’t he elevate Chandragupta from the status of a maid’s son to that of an Emperor?

Today Caste is used to create enmity between Hindus and as an excuse for Conversion into Christianity or Islam. Caste is also used as a tool to garner Votes in our Democracy. And most importantly Caste is used to destroy our rituals and practices by insulting Brahmins (especially the Priest class of some Temples) and by encouraging Inter-Caste Marriages so that automatically the next generation does not follow the rituals or traditions of either the father or the mother. Understand this conspiracy and value your own Jaati – all Jaatis are equally great and worthy of respect.

YOGA IS UNIVERSAL, SHIVRATRI IS UNIVERSAL, SANSKRIT IS UNIVERSAL

There is no doubt that this Universe was created by Brahmn and that is why everything is universal for all of creation. But when some people believe that other than mankind, nothing has a soul, how can we expect them to think of knowledge as universal? For them, every knowledge is a way to earn money and increase physical pleasures. For us every scripture teaches us to shun the physical and concentrate on the spiritual and the soul and thus strive for a union with the Brahmn. So for us Yoga is about that, Shivratri is about that and even our languages, shlokas, dance, music, art forms are about that – the Union of our soul with the Divine. For them Yoga is about physical exercises and everything contained in our knowledge systems is just another way of earning more.  Do not confuse modern acceptance of our concepts as an acceptance of our connection to the Divine – they are still connected to only their God, not to any Universal wisdom. So please don’t mouth such platitudes and stick to calling all our concepts & knowledge as Hindu.

There must be many more such ideas which have led us on the path to Dhimmification and self-destruction. Do you know of more? Do leave a comment on the same.
