After the rape of the girl by Maulana Ilyas in the mosque of Delhi, now Mohammad Qasim rapes the patient in the hospital after drugging her.

Medical and Legal Negligence

The Lisari Gate police station SHO allegedly tried to mislead senior officials about not receiving any complaint about the crime despite the survivor’s family giving a written complaint.

Meerut: In a horrific incident amid the raging COVID-19 pandemic, a girl patient was allegedly raped in ICU by  ward boy of a hospital in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

The alleged crime took place after the ward boy allegedly sedated the patient with an injection in the ICU of the hospital. The incident took place under Lisari Gate police station.

A complaint has been filed at the local police station and the ward boy has been taken into police custody, according to a report in Hindi daily Hindustan.

The 18-year-old girl, a resident of Majidnagar, was admitted to the Care Nursing Home on May 27 after she had a high fever.

The victim alleged that the ward boy sedated her with a drug injection in the ICU and then raped her at 3am. The ward boy also threatened the survivor with a poison injection if she revealed the crime to anyone.

The matter came to light after the victim narrated her ordeal to her brother’s wife. Later, the family filed a complaint at the Lisari Gate police station.

After the complaint, the police detained the accused identified as Qasim, a resident of Ghosipur village in Kharkhauda. Police are finally questioning the accused.

CCTV ‘reveals’ crime

After the incident, the girl’s cousin brother reached the hospital and watched the CCTV footage where the accused was seen ‘molesting’ the patient at around 3am on the day of the incident. But after the molestation incident, the cameras mysteriously get turned off for 40 minutes. There is suspicion that the accused may have turned off the cameras to hide the crime.

Police attempt cover-up

There have been allegations that the local SHO misled the Circle Officer Amit Rai telling him there was no complaint from the victim’s family despite a written complaint in the police station. Quoting sources, the report suggested that local cops gave the full opportunity to the accused for a compromise. The people from the accused’s side also reportedly pressurised the victim’s family for a compromise.

The girl had come to the mosque to get water, Maulvi Ilyas raped: Delhi

NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old [Maulvi Ilyas] was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl inside a mosque in northeast Delhi when she went to fetch water, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Sunday evening when the 12-year-old girl had gone to the mosque to fetch water, they said.

After the girl returned home, she narrated her ordeal to her parents who then filed a complaint with the police on Sunday night.

A case was subsequently registered and the girl was counselled and taken for a medical examination, police said.

In the complaint, the girl’s parents alleged that their daughter had gone to the mosque to fetch water when she was raped by the cleric, the police said.

The accused was booked under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a senior police officer said.

He was arrested Monday morning from Loni in Ghaziabad where he lived, a senior police officer said.

The cleric, who hails from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, was produced in a city court which sent him to 14-day judicial custody, he said.

Police personnel were deployed outside the mosque as agitated locals gathered there to protest, police said.

‘Nurse’ Niha Khan injects empty needles, throws Covid vaccines in dustbin: Aligarh, UP

Staff at Jamalpur primary health centre in Aligarh, UP found Niha Khan, an Auxiliary nurse-midwife (ANW)  injecting empty needles and throwing away the loaded syringes without administering the vaccine! When caught red-handed and questioned, she claimed she was ‘in a bad mood’ before nonchalantly walking away!

Incidentally, the vaccination programme at Jamalpur near the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was being provided technical ‘support’ and ‘supervision’ by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Naturally, this did not go down well with the eyewitnesses who probably felt exactly what the rest of the world feels right now. The 29 vaccines that were found in the Bio-hazard waste bin that Khan had wasted that day, might have potentially saved 29 lives. Surprisingly, Dr. Arfeen the lady Doctor in charge of the health centre, even though intimated on the issue, suppressed the matter from higher-ups.

It is not known as to who reported the matter to health officials but the administration swung into action as soon they did. Khan, a contract worker was terminated from service. Dr. Arfeen meanwhile has been transferred back to her original posting in Harduaganj, barely a 10 minutes drive away.

All of the ‘beneficiaries’ of the vaccine that Khan deceived were in the 18-44 age bracket. Unfortunately, their details were updated on the COWIN portal as recipients of the Covid vaccine.

The incident happened on Monday and the chief medical officer (CMO), Aligarh, Dr Bhanu Pratap Kalyani ordered a probe by a committee of additional CMO Dr MK Mathur and deputy CMO Durgesh Kumar to look into this case. The probe team visited the health centre on Tuesday and interrogated the staff, including ANM Khan. The committee submitted its report on Wednesday at the meeting of the District Health Committee. The investigation found both Khan and Dr. Arfeen guilty.

The Agra District Magistrate in Aligarh, Chandra Bhushan Singh has issued a show-cause notice to Khan. Singh also recommended termination of her contractual service. “No such incident would be tolerated and whosoever is found guilty would face the action,” he said.

At a time when such cases should be earning exemplary punishments, there are allegations that the charges filed are for disposing of syringes only. Though there are eyewitnesses, Khan denied the allegations, calling them a conspiracy against her. More serious questions as to when this sly dumping began remain unsolved.

Aligarh is synonymous with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), the heart of Bharat’s Muslim intelligentsia, the university which has given us gems like Sharjeel Usmani. But still, vaccine hesitancy is so high in this town that out of 18 AMU professors who died from Covid, 16 had not taken even their first shot of the vaccine although almost all were in the eligible age group. Such anti-vaxxer sentiments are found to be abnormally high among other Muslim communities such as those in districts of far-away Kerala like Malappuram and Kozhikode.

So were ‘nurse’ Neha Khan and Dr. Arfeen also in the anti-vaxxer camp? Or were the empty injections being given to non-Muslim patients? Or were those unused vaccines being smuggled out and sold on the black market? All these questions need to be probed and answered, so we can judge how deep-rooted the problem is. A mere job termination or transfer is just the superficial first step.
