Saharanpur district magistrate has ordered the Darul Uloom Deoband that their website needs to be pulled down until completion of inquiry into fatwas that were found to be in violation of child rights.

The district magistrate of Saharanpur directed Darul Uloom Deoband to shut down their website until probe ends into unlawful fatwas. Earlier The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of the issue and had written to the Saharanpur District Magistrate for initiating action against Darul-Uloom Deoband for issuing fatwas and making misleading statements on issues of child rights. The action came after a complaint was registered against the Islamic seminary about their questionable views on matters pertaining to children and their education in January.

The district magistrate of Saharanpur looked into the matter and found that illegal fatwas are being issued and published on the website of Darul Uloom Deoband which are in total violation of child rights. Therefore looking at the seriousness of the issue, DM has ordered the Darul Uloom Deoband that their website needs to be pulled down until completion of inquiry.
