Sanjay Raut has been remanded in custody by the ED until 4th of August. According to the most recent sources, the special ED court hearing of the remand stated that a short remand was not required because the money trail paperwork is already accessible. The special court noted that the ECIR against Sanjay Raut’s associate Pravin Raut was filed in 2021 and that he was taken into custody in January 2022, according to LiveLaw. Additionally, it mentioned that ED started looking into the case in 2020.

Sanjay Raut and his family have allegedly benefited directly from the Patra Chawl scam, according to the ED, and if not detained, Raut may attempt to sway witnesses or tamper with evidence. Sanjay Raut’s attorney asserted that the case against him is political and that the ED cannot hold him in custody since they “may uncover something.” Sanjay Raut will receive food and medicine from the ED, according to their agreement. In response to a request from Raut’s attorney, the ED has also permitted Raut’s attorney to meet with him for consultations between 8:30 and 9:30 am and has stated that Raut’s questioning will not last until 10:30 pm.
