On Sunday, in UK, various leaders of the Sikh community gathered at Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, located in Park Avenue, Southall, to pass a resolution thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP government for all his efforts and honoring the Sikh fraternity and taking a lead to absolve the misunderstandings, if any.

They did also thank the Prime Minister Modi for announcing December 26 as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ and declaring it a public holiday. It is pertinent to note that earlier this month, on the occasion of the 365th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, PM Modi had announced that December 26 will be celebrated as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ from 2022, as mark of a tribute to the bravery and martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons.

In the congregation,  a statement from the Sikh leaders and gurdwara committee office bearers talked about some vicious elements who are pushing “factually incorrect” narrative about India and its current government and they also challenged their narrative collectively.

The event by the Sikh community in the United Kingdom, is being seen as a sort of push back against the Khalistanis. The Khalistani propagandists in collusion with Pakistani ISI have organised many protest marches in the UK in the past few months and have been spearheading the anti-India campaign.

The local community in the UK had so far remained a mute spectator as they stayed silent and chose not to confront the handful Khalistanis, who were propagating anti-India narrative. But this event of passing of the resolution is being considered as a bold step and a tight slap to those elements defaming the community as a whole.

In December 2021, PM Modi while addressing the Gurpurab celebrations at Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib in Gujarat, had said – “Guru Tegh Bahadur’s valour and his sacrifice against Aurangzeb teaches us how the country fights against terror and religious fanaticism. Similarly, the life of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib is also a living example of tenacity and sacrifice at every step.”
