The Central Vista Project is in news now a days. After the Gandhis spoke against the Central Vista project, their followers and loyalists have carried the tirade of opposing the Central Vista project.

In this article, we will understand what the Central Vista Project, why that was needed, what was Congress’s earlier stance on it and why Gandhis and their loyalists are opposing it.

What is Central Vista project?

It is a project which rebuilds the Legislative and Exective buildings and infrastructure of India. Under this project,

  1. New Parliament building will be built.
  2. New buildings which will bring all ministries (located in North and South Block) and scattered all throughout Delhi to one place which will act kind of Central Secretariat.
  3. The Vice President’s and Prime Minister’s House will be rebuilt new.
  4. The existing North Block and South Block will be converted to museums.
  5. All the development will be done along the Rajpath, the land is already with the Govt. and there is no need of Govt to purchase land.

Why the project is being executed and what will nation gain from the project?

  1. The Parliament building is nearly 100 years old. The building is not earth quake resistant, and the facilities have become outdated. It is said that there are unbearable fowl smells at many places and since the original plans are not available they are not being able to get fixed.
  2. There is paucity of space. On top of that, the number of MPs will increase after 2029 elections and the new MPs wont have place to sit. Even now, many MPs don’t get office space inside parliament and that causes a lot of problem for them in managing their work.
  3. The North Block, South Block are unable to accommodate all ministries. Due to this various ministries are spread across Delhi. This makes meetings and coordination across ministries difficult which very badly affects governance of whole nation. The time spent for travel across various ministries is very high.
  4. This project will eliminate VIP movements which will in-turn reduce traffic jams and inconvenience to the public.
  5. The new Parliament building will be equipped with better technologies, have more meeting rooms which will surely improve the productivity of bureaucracy, MPs and others.
  6. Nearly Rs. 20000 crores are being spent for the project. In reality the project will save tax payers’ money. How? Because, the Govt. today gives nearly Rs. 1500 crore every year as office rent for the ministries which are not located in Rajpath. Hence, the money spent will be recovered in nearly 10-15 years and will save money thereafter.
  7. Every advanced nation has a central secretariat. India doesn’t have one. And other nations are not stupid to have central secretariat.
  8. Also for Indian states, it is said that the states having a central secretariat (like Gujarat) have better governance. In Gujarat the coordination across different departments is very easy.
  9. The PM and Vice President house which is being rebuilt, will be connected to to Parliament and Central Vista through tunnels. This will avoid any interruption to traffic movement in Delhi. The security protocols which are enforced while movement of VIPs used to cause a lot of troubles for common people. All such problems will be solved once the project is completed.

For the project, Rs. 20000 crores is being spent over 4 years which amounts to Rs. 5000 crores per year. Rs. 5000 crores is a peanut amount for a huge country like India where monthly GST incomes are exceeding 1 lakh crores.

Then, why are Gandhis and some people opposing though they themselves had proposed the project first?

  1. The projects are being done at very low price. For e.g. during Sonia Gandhi’s reign the new parliament building was proposed to be build at Rs. 3000 crores, but Modi Govt is building the new building for Rs. 971 crore. This must have resulted a loss of commission and kickbacks which would have gone to the Sonia, Priyanka and Rahul’s pockets.
  2. The sole goal of Gandhis and their ecosystem has been to loot the nation. With Governance and coordination across ministries improving after the project is completed, looting the nation will be tougher.
  3. The Govt is shelling so much money on rent. The people receiving rent would lose their income(worth hundreds of crores) and it is possible they might be sponsoring the PILs, litigations and the news in media.

Hence, it is extremely important that we expose the nefarious design and intentions of the opposers of the Central Vista project before the nation.
