Food delivery service Zomato apologised after receiving criticism for their most recent advertising that featured Hrithik Roshan.

The corporation issued a statement on Twitter saying, “We extend our heartfelt apologies, for the purpose here was never to damage anyone’s beliefs and sentiments.”

Zomato’s reaction follows demands for the immediate removal of the specific advertising in which Hrithik can be seen ordering food from “Mahakal” when he feels like having a “thali” from priests and followers of Ujjain’s Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple.

Priest Mahesh Sharma condemned the ad and said, “Mahakal temple does not deliver any thali. Zomato and Hrithik Roshan must apologize for this ad.”

He added, “The company has made misleading publicity about the Mahakal temple in its advertisement. The company should think before issuing such advertisements.”

Zomato issued an apology after receiving complaints from priests regarding the advertisement.

The advertisement “referred ‘thalis’ at ‘Mahakal Restaurant, and not the famous Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple,” according to the company’s statement.

The Zomato statement clarified, “The video is part of a pan-India campaign for which we identified top local restaurants and their top dishes based on popularity in each city. Mahakal restaurant was one of the restaurants chosen for the campaign in Ujjain. We deeply respect the sentiments of the people of Ujjain and the ad in question is no longer running. We offer our sincerest apologies for the intent as never to hurt anyone’s beliefs and sentiments.”

Meanwhile, no statement from Bollywood actor Hritik Roshan has come. Interestingly, the actor was busy in saving the sinking ship of Aamir Khan by promoting Laal Singh Chaddha post it’s release when it was realized that the film is a blunder in itself. But the promotion by Hritik backfired and the netizens called for boycott of his next film Vikram Vedha.
