The arrest has taken place in Germany, after the Modi government intervened at the highest diplomatic levels with their German counterparts about Multani’s involvement in a conspiracy to target cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
German Police have arrested Jaswinder Singh Multani, a prominent terrorist of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), for his involvement in a blast in a Ludhiana court which happened last week. He was also hatching a conspiracy to target locations in Delhi and Mumbai as reported by people aware of these events, on Monday.
On December 23, a bomb blast had taken place in the district courts complex in Ludhiana, Punjab which had resulted in killing of one person and leading six others injured. This had triggered a high alert in the poll-bound state.
Jaswinder Singh Multani, a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, is 45-year- old close associate of SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, and has been involved in separatist activities, an official had informed, on condition of anonymity.
According to diplomats based in Bonn and New Delhi, Multani was picked up by the Federal Police from Erfurt in central Germany after the Narendra Modi-led government requested German authorities to arrest the pro-Khalistan radical who has links to Pakistani, and has been involved in smuggling of arms and ammunition from across the border into Punjab; as reported by Hindustan Times.
“Multani recently showed up on security agencies’ radar for arranging and sending weapons consignments comprising explosives, hand grenades and pistols from across the border with the help of Pakistan-based operatives, the official quoted above said.

Multani, previously had also been engaged in sending funds to Jeevan Singh, who was radicalised by him through social media, for arranging locally made weapons to target key farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal, who happens to be the president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union-Rajewal.
