2 shrines have been vandalized in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh (UP). Two accused youths wearing saffron colored safa were caught on the spot and arrested by the police. The names of these youths are being told as Kamil and Adil. UP’s ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar told Aaj Tak that initially it appears to be a conspiracy, so a special team of UP Police is investigating it. According to police officials, UP ATS can also interrogate the accused soon.
Two tombs were vandalized
According to Aaj Tak’s Sanjeev Sharma, Bijnor SP Dinesh Singh said,
“On Sunday around 4:30 pm, information was received from Sherkot police station area of Bijnor about vandalizing the tomb of Jalal Shah. After this, the police team reached the spot and got information that two brothers Mohammad Kamil and Mohammad Adil had vandalized the tomb. Shortly after this incident, a report was received that the tomb of Bhure Shah in Ghosiawala village of the district has also been vandalized and the sheet has been burnt. After the information, the police reached there and with the help of the villagers, both the accused were arrested.
What was the purpose of spoiling the atmosphere during the Kanwar Yatra?
SP Dinesh Singh also said that the atmosphere in the district is calm due to the vigilance of the police and higher officials from the government have been instructed to reach Sherkot in Bijnor. According to sources related to UP Police, Kawar Yatra is going on in the entire state including western UP. In this case, the ATS from Lucknow can come to Bijnor for questioning as soon as possible to find out what is the motive of the accused behind this incident.
What did the accused say after the demolition of the tomb?
According to Santosh Sharma of Aaj Tak, some people caught the accused youths and interrogated them while vandalizing the shrine and burning the sheets. Both said that now they will vandalize more tombs. These two young men asked the people what is the use of these tombs? On the other hand, these two accused have been described as mentally ill by their families.
