Ramayana is one of the most sacred epics of Hinduism. In this article, I will give you 6 proofs that shows Ramayana was a real epic.
Introduction to Ramayana
The Ramayana is daily read by millions of Hindus. Being an ancient Indian novel, this epic is closely related to the hearts of millions of Hindus.
The people of India consider Lord Rama to be their ancestor, and He is considered to be the core of all Indian philosophies.
Originally written by Maharishi Valmiki in Sanskrit Language, this epic has been re-written and translated in many other languages.
Being the First Epic to be written, It is said to be Adi-Kavya or the first Epic. The Ramayana consists of 24,000 verses and divided into 7 parts.
The Ramayana is an epic which is based on the life journey of a mighty King named Rama.
He is considered to be the 7th human incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of this world.
Lord Rama came to this world to eliminate the Evils and Adharma and establish the rule of Good and Dharma.
After Mahabharata, Ramayana is the second largest epic of this world. It narrates the whole life of Rama as how he is born, his marriage with Sita, his killing of Ravana(the demon king) etc.
Proofs of Ramayana
- Located in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka; this cave is tested and proven by Archaeologists to be hundred percent natural and also that its mysterious shape cannot be carved by human hands. Tradition states that, this is where Sitawas held captive by the Asuras, and one can still see Cave paintings depicting the same in here. This cave is shaped like a “giant Cobra” and is referred to as Cobra Hood cave by the natives.
- Huge foot prints of Lord Hanuman are seen on the stones of the temple Nuwara Eliya and several other temples in Sri Lanka. People come from across the globe to see these ancient footsteps of devotee Hanuman.
- The Sanjeevani Mountain which is said to be threshold with the presence of exotic herbs and plants stands the same even today in Dronagiri, Himalayas.
- Ashok Vatika, is said to be the haven where Lord Ravana kept Goddess Sita as a prisoner. This garden stands the same even today. This is presently referred to as the, Hakgala Botanical Garden and stands close to the city of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka.
- King Ravana’s devotion for Lord Shiva is said to have earned him so much reverence and respect in Sri Lanka that a temple is built in Sri Lanka for him. This is the world’s first instance where a temple is being built for a devotee rather than for whom he is devoted to. This temple exists as Koneshwaram temple in Sri Lanka.
