A muslim group, Muslim Defence force in Mangalore district has issued a threat to muslim women and girls. A message is being circulated that muslim girls or women who don’t wear burqa or who remove their burqa to click selfies will be beaten. The messages of Muslim Defence Force got circulated in social media. One message said “In mall basements we have seen many wearing burqa and misbehaving. Our workers have already warned them. If this is seen again, you’ll be beaten up”. This group claims to be the group meant for raising voices for muslim community.

Shashi Kumar who is the Mangaluru’c Commissioner of Police informed that group named Muslim Defence Force threatened that those women who don’t wear the burqa in public places would be attacked. It also said that women wearing burqa in public spaces are not to remove it and take selfies.
