A Hindu temple-like architectural style was uncovered beneath an old mosque on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Thursday. According to sources, the construction was discovered in the Malali Market Mosque grounds, which are within the Ganjimath gramme panchayat borders.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has planned to conduct a Hindu ceremony called ‘Thamboola Prashe’ on May 25 in order to settle a dispute that emerged after the discovery of the temple-like structure during the demolition of a mosque at Malali near Ganjimutt in Mangaluru.
Hindu activist organisations met and decided to hold a “Thamboola Prashe” rite on May 25 around the mosque grounds. Bharat Shetty, a BJP MLA, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders, including Sharan Pumpwell, attended the meeting.

A Hindu temple-like architectural style was discovered beneath the Juma Masjid in Malali, on the outskirts of Mangaluru, earlier this month when the renovation of the mosque was underway.
Reportedly, VHP plans to hire a well-known astrologer from Kerala to determine whether the mosque was built after a temple was encroached upon.
After a temple-like structure was discovered inside the mosque in Gurupara Hobli, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded that the mosque’s licence be cancelled and that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) undertake an investigation.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other Hindu activist groups had asked the district administration to halt the work until the documents were validated. Following the uproar, the Dakshina Kannada Commissionerate ordered that the structure remains in place till further orders are issued.
The administration had stated that they will investigate the land records and urged citizens to keep the peace.
