Police have said that 31-year-old Rehman used to frequent Mamata Banerjee’s residence and used to take pictures of the building on his phone.
Rahman hails from Narayanpur in North 24 Pargan district and shared this photo with many people on WhatsApp. Kolkata’s Alipore Court has sent him to police custody till July 18. The police have also added a section of criminal conspiracy against the accused. The police have said that it is suspected that the links of the accused are with other states and Bangladesh as well.
The police told the court that Rehman had earlier tried to enter the state secretariat in Howrah as well. He has also been arrested twice in this case. He said that he wanted to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. At the same time, Rahman’s family claims that Rahman’s mental balance is not right. But investigators are not ready to believe this.
According to a lawyer present in the court, the police told that 11 SIM cards have been recovered from Rehman. Some of them are from Bangladesh. In October last year, he had gone to Bangladesh during Durga Puja. At the same time, it was also told in the court that Rahman used to befriend some children by giving them chocolates and soft drinks. Apart from this, Rahman had taken photographs of the Chief Minister’s residence from every angle, which deepens the suspicion.
Let us inform that when the person was arrested on July 3, an iron rod was found from him. This was a big lapse in the security of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It is estimated that Rahman had come inside by climbing the western wall. There is Toli Canal on that side.
