In a horrific incident, a female police officer in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand was run over and killed while being on duty by unidentified people who were allegedly smuggling cows. Sub-inspector Sandhya Topno, the deceased officer, was posted in charge of Tupudana OP.
Officer Sandhya was reportedly chasing the vehicle that was illegally transporting the animals. After receiving a tip about the car, she pursued it to find the suspect. The unnamed suspect, however, ran the car in the opposite way, crushing the officer instantly.
When Sub-Inspector Sandhya Topno was taken to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences hospital, her condition was already critical. On July 20, SSP Ranchi provided information regarding the event and said that Ranchi Police had captured the suspect and had impounded the car.
The unnamed offender, in this case, has been apprehended, according to Ranchi Police. The van that was allegedly being used to smuggle the animals has also been seized by the police. Sub-Inspector Sandhya Topno, who was assigned to oversee Tupudana OP, was a member of the 2018 batch. The case is the subject of an active police investigation.
In a similar incident, in Pantheon, close to Nuh in the Mewat region of Haryana, the mining mafia ran over and killed Haryana DSP Taoru Surendra Singh Bishnoi earlier on Tuesday. According to accounts, DSP Bishnoi visited a location where illicit mining was being done unexpectedly in order to conduct an inspection. However, the mining gang killed him by running a dumper over him.
