A hand grenade was thrown at a roadside kiosk selling Pakistani national flags in the unrest-ridden Balochistan province of the country on Friday, according to a report in the media. At least one person was killed and 14 others, including two children, were injured.

The incident occurred on Thursday night in Quetta’s Joint Road neighborhood, when unidentified motorcyclists threw the grenade at the shops selling flags and other decorations in advance of Independence Day on August 14. One victim of the incident died and 14 were injured, according to the police.

The report stated, “There are at least 14 others injured including two children and they were all taken to the hospital. Doctors say the condition of those injured is stable.”

No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Recently, a prominent military officer with 5 others was riding in the military chopper that was shot down by the Baloch rebels in the Balochistan airspace. Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali, commander of the Quetta Corps, and five other people, the majority of whom were senior military commanders, were killed. The group known as Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
