Jis Thaali Ne Inke Paapi Pet Ko Bachaya Ye Usi Ko Jalane Chale…

Founded on 14 December, 1920 after the Indian National Congress(INC) on 28 December, 1885 by A .O. Hume. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) stands as India’s second-most oldest political party.

Originally Akali Dal was formed as a task force of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee i.e., the Sikh religious body. Akali Dal considers itself the principal representatives of the Sikhs. Sardar Sarmukh Singh Chubbal who was the first president of the unified proper Akali Dal, but Akali Dal became popular under Master Tara Singh during the Akali Movement which led to the launch of several Punjabi newspapers between early 1920s till 1925.

During the elections of 1937, the Akali Dal won with 10 seats while the Khalsa Nationalists won the elections with 11 seats and joined the coalition government which was headed by the Unionist leader Mr. Sikander Hyat Khan. Now the Akalis had to sit in opposition and made occasional forays to reach an understanding with the Muslim League but it never went fruitful.

During the provincial election of 1946, the Akali Dal won 22 seats and joined the alliance which was headed by Unionist Khizar Hayar Khan Tiwana along with Indian National Congress. At that same point of time The Muslim League having won largest number of seats was unable to capture the power, but it was suitable for the AIML because they were on the way to strengthen the issue of Pakistan (At Present: Islamic Republic of Pakistan). As the main objective of AIML was the Pakistan issue so the party wanted the allied government to bend down its knees, thus civil disobedience campaign was launched to bring down Tiwana’s alliance government. BUT, here Master Tara Singh and his party Akali Dal opposed the partition of India for forming another country because he thought it would create an environment for possible persecution.

Although SADs party constituiton had an important agenda that was the protection of Punjab’s rights but opposition to Sutlej Yamuna link Canal was the main agenda.

SAD on 26th September,2020 left the NDA-Led BJP government in centre over the controversial Farm Bill which led to several protests at that time in the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana.

Due to political instability the Shiromani Akali Dal got many splinters such as Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi, Punjab Lok Congress, Lok Insaaf Party and Haryana State Akali Dal etc.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) stands as an Anti-India / Sikh-separatist political party founded by Simranjit Singh Mann on 1st May,1994 is a splinter group formed out of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD). The party’s most significant success was in the 1989 general election of Republic of India. The party won 6 out of 13 seats in Indian state of Punjab. In very recent history the party won the by-polls of 1999 and 2022 from Sangrur constituency. After the winning of 2022 by-polls from Sangrur constituency Simranjit Singh Mann gave the credit to Jamil Singh Bhindranwale who was not only a supporter of Khalistan but a Sikh extremist and a firm supporter of Anti-India forces.

Now the question that can be raised is,

•  From a long tenure of more than 25 years if a political party operates in India with an Anti-Indian ideology, then on what basis it has been allowed to contest elections in the Republic of India by the Election commission of India?

•  What was so special about SAD(Amritsar) that the EC of Republic of India never took a single step to forfeit the party from contesting polls in the country?

Taking up the issue Mr. Sandeep Singh, a social activist and senior columnist stated that, ‘What is happening in Punjab today, Rahul Gandhi has already said in his speech. Whenever a radical ideology moves forward in any part of the country, it always breaks the country, I think the Chief Minister of Punjab is unaware of this fact. Ideologies like RSS and Khalistani push the country towards hatred.’

Lastly, as a responsible government we can expect Mr. Minister MHA along with senior officials will take most appropriate action against the political cum separatist party presently operating in Punjab named Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) !!
