Jesus Cures Everything! Or does he?

Some of you have seen videos of Christian pastors supposedly healing the unwell, by shouting some random nonsense and laying their hands on people.  No one knows what they say.

Many Christians genuinely believe that Jesus, and through him, the holy spirit, can heal all illnesses and even raise the dead.  Some pastors and faith healers like Benny Hinn and this pastor in the video included, have made a whole industry out of getting vulnerable people to convert due to false promises of curing them from illnesses.  But some genuinely believe they have that power to cure the sick, and that people do not need to go to a doctor.  That is because they feel they get their power from Jesus, who supposedly healed many sick people. The first instance of Jesus healing a person comes from the book of Mark: 

A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.

He was also said to have healed those who were blind (by spitting on the ground and rubbing the dirt in their eyes), those who were deaf and those who were paralyzed.  In addition, Jesus gave the power to his disciples supposedly to go and heal the sick and raise the dead to his disciples: 

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give”.

Jesus even raised the dead; the story of Lazarus is a well-known part of Christian mythology.  Some Christians unfortunately believe that because Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, they too can call upon the holy spirit to raise someone from the dead even now.  A worship leader at a church in Seattle, Washington, USA lost her 2 year old daughter due to unknown causes.  She and her husband held days long services to get their daughter to come alive again, shouting “Come alive / Come alive / Come alive, dry bones / Awake, arise / Inhale the light”. 

Those lyrics are from a song composed by a group of well-known Christian musicians called Hillsong Worship Team; they also run churches such as the one in Seattle, and also Christians schools.  It’s unknown if they have a presence in India.

This video from Instagram shows how fervently they were working to try and bring a dead child back to life. In addition, this same church was asking for $100,000 (1 lakh) in donations to help in reviving this child.  In a statement, the church said: “Bethel Church believes in the accounts of healing and physical resurrection found in the Bible (Matthew 10:8), and that the miracles they portray are possible today”. 

In the bible, there are also stories of Jesus exorcising people of demons, like you just saw in the video before.  One story of demon possession can be found in Mark 5, which talks about a time Jesus came across a so-called demon possessed man who was chained up in a graveyard:

“Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.”And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside.The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.”He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. (Mark 5:9-13)

By the way, many Christians believe that Hindus are possessed by demons because of the many devas Hindus worship.  White American pastors like Steven Anderson and Indian Christian pastors like Mohan C. Lazarus call Hinduism a demonic religion.  This pastor in this video even calls Shiva and Kaali demons as he exorcises an African-American woman:

That is another reason why Christians actively target Hindus for conversion.  Hinduism is the last polytheistic religion that has not been wholly eradicated.  It is the last frontier for Christianity to conquer. Avoid Christian hospitals if at all possible, because even when they offer proper medical care, they will do these sorts of things in an effort to convert people.  Many people have and will continue to come forward to us telling stories of how the Conversion Mafia approached them or their loved ones in hospital to get them to convert.  In their minds, they think they are healing us diseased, demon-possessed people.  In reality, they need to heal themselves!
