The Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee (TDMC), another alliance of the ruling Democratic party, passed a hateful resolution on September 17 labeling a number of Hindu organizations as “foreign hate groups.” The Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee (TDMC) in New Jersey referred to the Hindu American Foundation (HAF), the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), SEWA International, Infinity Foundation, and Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation as “foreign hate groups” and claimed they have both direct and indirect ties to the RSS in the resolution.
As per the reports, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC), a unit of the ruling Democratic party, has condemned the blatant Hinduphobia displayed by the TDMC.
The anti-Hindu Teaneck resolution does not further the Democratic Party’s fundamental purpose of uniting rather than dividing people, according to a statement from the NJDSC. In a statement, they stated, “We stand with those who value inclusivity and diversity, and against hate and bigotry in any form.”
The Coalition of Hindus of North America tweeted about the news release issued by the Democratic party unit (CoHNA).
#BREAKING. Thanks to the efforts of a broad coalition of Hindu orgs in NJ, @NJDSC has official condemned the anti-Hindu resolution by @DemsTeaneck which targeted Hindu orgs & supported #Hinduphobia. We will continue to work with lawmakers & educate them on such matters👏🏾👏🏾. 1/n pic.twitter.com/ElHGO0EX41

Hindus in America have been particularly outraged since the Teaneck Democrats’ resolution carelessly and falsely referred to nearly every significant Hindu American organization in the country, including the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, Sewa International, and others, as a fascist organization that fosters hate and terrorism.
The Hindu-American community in New Jersey has requested assistance from Democratic lawmakers around the country.
The resolution passed by TDMC stated, “Hindu nationalist organizations have infiltrated all levels of politics and were highly effective in blocking US House Resolution 417 which was a congressional attempt to warn against the Hindu nationalist movement.”
Not only this, the democratic party ally has urged that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) intensify their investigation of “international hate groups that have local branches with tax-exempt status,” referring to them as Hindu supremacists.
House Resolution 417, backed by both Republican and Democratic MPs, was a contentious resolution introduced in 2013 to the Congress that aimed to keep refusing Narendra Modi a visa to the United States. Additionally, the resolution urged India to defend the freedoms and rights of religious minorities and urged the US government to bring up the issue during bilateral Strategic Dialogue. The House resolution, however, lost support as a number of its sponsors withdrew in response to mounting criticism of the action.
According to the Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee, US Code Title 22 Chapter 38, Section 2656f, Hindu organizations can be designated as terrorist organizations (d).
Among other organizations, the Indian American Muslim Council issued the TDMC press statement supporting the resolution. IAMC published it on their website despite not being a media organization, demonstrating their support for calling for action against Hindu groups in the USA.
