In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, LLB student Yash Rastogi was strangled and stabbed to death. His friends Salman, Shahbaz, Alizaan and Imran have been arrested in this case. After the murder, Yash Rastogi’s body was cut into several pieces and thrown into the drain. On late night of Saturday (July 2, 2022), the police recovered the body of the deceased from Pilokhari drain in Lisadi gate on the behest of four friends.

According to the authorities, before killing Yash, they misbehaved with the victim. According to City SP Vineet Bhatnagar, the murderers were a group of LGBT teenagers. The deceased hailed from Sector-6 of Medical Police Station’s Jagriti Vihar. The evening of June 26, 2022, law student Yash Rastogi, age 21, left from his residence on a scooter stating that he will arrive shortly, but when he didn’t show up as promised, the family members reported to the police. The cops first caught his friends after checking their cell devices’ and whereabouts. The four first made an attempt to deceive the police by asserting that they knew nothing about Yash Rastogi. But during a protracted grilling, they revealed everything. The murderers told that they wanted to check Yash’s phone.

The police also believe that Meerut’s Hapur Adda, Lisadigate and Shastri nagar are sensitive areas. In such a situation, a large number of soldiers have been deployed so that the Muslim mob does not create a ruckus. Police of three police stations and two COs reached and completed the process of recovery of the dead body. At the time of the murder, a cloth was stuffed in Yash Rastogi’s mouth. Alishan and Chavez committed the murder, while Salman assisted in disposing of the body.

He suspected that Yash Rastogi had made some obscene video of him. After abusing, they strangled Yash to death. He was also stabbed in his arms and legs with a knife. Only after the postmortem report, the real reason behind the murder will come out. The accused Chavez claimed to have a homosexual relationship with Yash. The killers cut Yash’s body into several pieces, filled it in a sack and threw it in the drain.

Meerut police had said in its official statement, “Yash Rastogi had gone with his scooty. On the information of its disappearance, a case was registered by the Medical Police Station. Three arrests have been made with the help of CCTV and surveillance. It has been told by him that due to blackmail in transactions and relations, he was murdered and the dead body was dumped. Strict action will be taken against the accused.” This massacre has taken place at a time when the country is in turmoil due to the beheading of Taylor Kanhaiyalal Teli in Udaipur, Rajasthan and Chemist Umesh Kolhe in Amravati, Maharashtra.
