There is a growing imposition of Islamic culture on the non-Muslim world by the Islamists insisting that the world produces and consumes only “Halal” products as enjoined in Islam. Now, the Islamists are holding the world to ransom by threatening to boycott Covid-19 vaccines as they are not “Halal” and risking us to perpetual exposure of the deadly virus.

As per a report on The Indian Express dated 20.12.2020, pork derived gelatin has been widely used as a stabilizer to ensure vaccines remain safe and effective during storage and transport. Halalonomics has forced some pharmaceutical companies like the Switzerland-based Novartis to produce pork-free vaccines for meningitis etc. While AJ Pharma based in Islamic countries like Saudi and Malaysia is currently working on Halal vaccines.

The British Islamic Medical Association rues the fact that the demand, existing supply chain and shorter shelf life of vaccines not containing porcine gelatin would make the vaccines containing pork gelatin remain in use for many years. Notably, in October this year, Indonesian diplomats and Muslim clerics stepped off a plane in China as pork was served in the plane. This happened when the Malaysian diplomats were heading to China to finalize deals to ensure that millions of Covid-19 vaccines reach Indonesian citizens. But the Islamic clerics’ foremost concern was whether the vaccines are ‘Halal’ and do not violate the rudimentary Shariat laws.

Even as the pharmaceutical companies and Health Ministries in all non-Islamic nations are racing to produce vaccines which can effectively build global immunity against the deadly pandemic which has wrecked economy worldwide and has left many people jobless due to strict lockdowns necessitated for abating the spread of the virus; the Islamic world of ulemmas and clerics are threatening to boycott the vaccines as they are not Halal.

The oxymoronic left-liberals do not have a problem when the Islamists refuse treatment or immunisation drives because it is “Haram” and in fact try to justify the demand for Halal vaccines and medicines by equating it to fundamental right to practice Islam. But the same ill-liberal liberals have a problem when Sanatanis seek ban on use of beef and beef products in India as it hurts Hindu religious sensibilities, the commies go to the extent of holding Beef-parties to provoke Hindus. By the way, many research studies[1] have stated that, “popular red meat (beef) requires 28 times more land to produce than pork or chicken, 11 times more water and results in five times more climate-warming emissions”. Despite these scientific evidences and religious sentiments, the fibrals would have us believe in India that Beef is very wholesome while pork is Haram. Now the fibrals would also justify the Islamists stand against Covid-19 vaccines at the cost of disrupting global immunization campaigns and holding the whole world to Halal ransom by insisting Muslims should have the right to reject Covid-19 vaccination.
