England: The International Cricket Council which is responsible for governing Cricket across the world has allowed West Indies players to wear the ‘Black Lives Matter’ logo on their jerseys in the upcoming Test series against England.
The recent controversy of ‘Black Lives Matter’ which hit the worst riots in the United States of America has engulfed entire world to ponder about the racism and respect others irrespective of their color and race. Our support to ‘Black Lives Matter’ always there but one should not politicize the issue.
During the Cricket World Cup 2019, ICC did not allow Indian Army insignia on MS Dhoni’s gloves. As per ICC regulations, players can’t sport any commercial, religious or military logo. ICC forbids display of messages “which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes.” Even though Dhoni’s message was neither related to commercial nor racial but still ICC didn’t allow Dhoni to wear those gloves.
If we apply same rules, ICC should also not allow ‘Black liver Matter’ logo for West Indies players. But seems like ICC has different rules for different countries. India always stand against racism attack and we condemned any such violence related to ethnicity, racism and religion. But when it comes to rules, it should be same for all. MS Dhoni was accorded with honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Army in 2011. Clearly he was not violating any rules by wearing those gloves but still ICC played its part and forced him to change the gloves.
