The Income Tax department raided the homes of two Punjab pastors, Baljinder Singh and Harpreet Deol, on Tuesday.
I-T teams from Bhatinda, Haryana, Jammu, and Amritsar carried out raids in Amritsar, Kurali, and New Chandigarh in Punjab. Baljinder Singh and Harpreet Deol, the two pastors, are both from Jalandhar.
This morning, the Income Tax Department raided several churches and priests’ homes in Punjab. The I-T department examined documents from The Open Door Church, a well-known church in northern India located in Khojewal, Kapurthala, at around 8 a.m. The I-T team questioned more than 30 employees.
Personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were stationed around the church and outside the pastors’ homes.
Punjab is entangled in a lethal web of religious conversion. By luring innocent tribal society members and converting them to Christianity, missionaries began to connect the threads of this deadly trap. It has now come to the fore in the form of such a trap, in which Dalits, Backwards, Sarvans, and others are caught. Religious Conversion in Punjab is also caught in this lethal trap.
In the beginning of the year 2022, when the assembly elections were held in Punjab, then such a section of the population here was in discussion which calls itself Dalit as well as Christian. Actually these are the people whom the missionaries have converted and made them Christians. However, statistics say that only 1.26% of the state’s population is Christian. But, due to the increasing conversion here, the ground reality has completely changed.
The fact that Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had to come forward and demand an anti-conversion law reflects the situation of Sikh conversion by Christian missionaries in Punjab. Furthermore, he has stated unequivocally that Christian missionaries are forcibly converting Sikhs through miraculous cures and hypocrisy. Punjabi Sikhs and Hindus are being persuaded to convert to Christianity.
Indeed, Christian missionaries are actively converting Sikhs to Christianity throughout Punjab, and it appears that this is all taking place undercover. However, observing the 10-15,000 people who arrive every Sunday in motorcycles, cars, and hired school buses to pray at the church in Khambra village, Jalandhar district, it is clear that the’market’ for conversions is thriving.
Punjab is not a new Christian conversion experiment. However, hundreds of pastors are new to the area. Among these priests are Amrit Sandhu, Kanchan Mittal, Raman Hans, Gurnam Singh Kheda, Harjeet Singh, Sukhpal Rana, and Faris Masih. His name is well-known because he has made significant contributions to the growth of ‘turban Christians’. They have many branches in Punjab and millions of YouTube subscribers. These are all professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, police officers, business owners, and landlords.
Overall, the situation in Punjab today resembles that of southern states such as Tamil Nadu in the 1980s and 1990s. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president HS Dhami, on the other hand, is unconcerned about the conversions. “People go to priests for solutions to life’s problems,” he says. They will eventually realise the truth and return to their original religion. However, campaigns such as ‘Ghar Ghar Andar Dharamsal’ demonstrate how volatile the situation has become.
