The ninth accused has been detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in relation to the murder of Kanhaiyya Lal Teli, a tailor from Udaipur, Rajasthan. Kanhaiya was murdered in June this year for supporting Nupur Sharma. The NIA announced on Friday that Muslim Khan, a 41-year-old native of Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh area, was detained on August 10 for his “active role in the conspiracy.”
Eight suspects were previously detained in connection with the case on June 29, July 1, July 4, July 9, and July 21. The 47-year-old Kanhaiyya Lal Teli was murdered on June 28 at his store in Udaipur’s Maldas Street. The deceased was assassinated because, according to reports, he had shared a social media post endorsing Nupur Sharma, a former BJP politician who had made derogatory comments about the Prophet Mohammad.
The matter was first reported on June 29 at the Dhanmandi Police Station in Udaipur. On June 29, the case was re-registered, and the NIA took over the investigation. Riyaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, the primary assassins in the crime, were apprehended on June 29 by Rajasthan Police and then by the NIA as part of the inquiry
