A large number of bombs and weapons were found in the residence of Trinamool leader and former Deputy President Ziyabur Rahman in Van Pada village of Jhilu Do Panchayat of Mangalkot police station in East Burdwan district on the morning of August 8 as a basis of a tip. A police officer has taken Ziabur Rahman into custody. There has been a stir in the region ever since the incident came to light. Following the discovery of a sizable number of guns and explosives at the Trinamool leader’s home, the police are also in a foul mood.
Police claimed that during a raid on the residence of Trinamool leader and Vice President Ziabur Rahman, they recovered 45 bombs, many one-shutter weapons, numerous rounds of ammunition, and bomb-making supplies. Following the discovery of a sizable quantity of explosives, bombs, and guns inside the Trinamool leader’s home, the district police launched an inquiry. However, during this raiding operation, Ziabur Rahman was immediately taken into custody by the police.
On Monday itself, the police filed a complaint against Jiyabur and brought him before the Katwa division court. The bomb-making factory allegedly operated in the home, and illicit weapons were smuggled out of it, according to the villagers. Meanwhile, the matter is under investigation, according to the police.
Police claimed that the residence had packages containing bombs. A rifle was found in a clear plastic jar. However, a probe into the circumstances surrounding the stockpiling of so many bombs and weapons has begun. Ziabur Rahman, according to the authorities, must have concealed more bombs and firearms somewhere.
The state is currently in turmoil as a result of cow smuggling. Anuvrat Mandal, president of Birbhum District Trinamool, has been called in by CBI once again. The finding of numerous bombs and firearms from the Trinamool leader’s residence has sparked a response from the opposition.
According to the opposition, the TMC leader gathered these bombs and illegal firearms on purpose to foment instability in the area. A police inquiry into the incident has begun. The Bomb Disposal Squad has also been informed by the District Police. The cops are keeping an eye on the several bombs discovered during the siege.
