Some Khalistani terrorists vandalized the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto on Wednesday in an unjustified attack using anti-Indian slogans. In several films shared on social media, the temple’s walls were painted with the phrases “Khalistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad.”
On Thursday, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa denounced the devastation of the BAPs Swaminarayan Temple and requested the Canadian government to take appropriate measures.
Unprovoked defacement of #HinduTemple in Canada. Can @PierrePoilievre assure his Conservatives wouldn’t indulge in identity-politics? Can his deputy @TimUppal condemn this act unequivocally & assure that he’d not overlook Khalistan extremism when in power?pic.twitter.com/g5lyOILl4Y

The high commission of India in Ottawa stated, “We strongly condemn defacing of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Toronto with anti-India graffiti. Have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action on the perpetrators. @MEAIndia @IndiainToronto @PIB_India @DDNewslive @CanadainIndia @cgivancouver
Brampton’s mayor, Patrick Brown, expressed his displeasure with the vandalism. “The GTA of Canada is not a place for this kind of bigotry. Let’s hope that the perpetrators of this crime be quickly brought to account,” he wrote on twitter.
Very disappointed to hear of the vandalism that occurred at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto. This type of hate has no place in the GTA or Canada. Let’s hope those criminals responsible are brought to justice quickly.

A member of parliament from Canada named Chandra Arya claims that Hindu Canadians have every right to be alarmed by the hate crimes that target Hindu temples. “Everyone should condemn the vandalism committed by Canadian Khalistani fanatics against the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto. This is not a singular incident. These kinds of hate crimes have recently targeted Hindu temples in Canada. Hindu Canadians have good reason to be worried, according to Arya’s tweet.
Radicals have targeted Hindu temples before in Canada, but this is not the first instance. Six Hindu temples were attacked in Toronto in February of this year.
The attackers took ornaments from the idols that were taken, as well as cash from contribution boxes. The first attempt to break into the Shri Hanuman Mandir in Brampton, a GTA town, failed on January 15, signaling the start of the attacks on the temples. The thugs tried once more after which they launched into a rant.
