The Calcutta High Court took notice of the brutal post-poll violence and massacre unleashed in Bengal and set up on Friday an unprecedented five judge bench to hear a PIL filed in the matter.
The HC ordered the state government to file a “report specifying the areas where violence has taken place and the steps taken to prevent or control it”. The HC will hear the matter further on 10th May (Monday).
The Advocate-General of West Bengal government, Kishore Dutta opposed the petition insisting that a new government had taken charge of the state barely two days ago and claimed it has taken several steps to curb the violence.
Additional Solicitor-General Y J Dastoor tried to claim that the petition was not maintainable and disputed the allegations of instigation of communal riots.
The state government tried to wriggle away from responsibility of maintaining law and order, by preposterously blaming the Election Commission for making “ill-considered” transfer of police officers blamed the violence on the Election Commission by claiming that the constitutional body took up “ill-considered” transfers of senior police officers and replaced them with “incompetent officers”.
It is hoped that the Hon’ble High court Bench does not go by the propaganda of anti-Hindu lobbies trying to sweep under the carpet the terrorism unleashed on Hindus because they chose to support the BJP or voted for the BJP. There are videos where particular community TMC members, even young boys mouthing out invectives, abusing Hindu men, women and children for being Ram Bhaktas. There are videos emerging where Hindu women are being raped by Islamist TMC supporters.
Under the garb of political violence, there is a complete genocide of devout Hindus underway in Bengal. Over a lakh Hindus have already fled Bengal and taken refuge in neighbouring Assam.
