The honour of national flag is above the honour of any individual of the country. But this republic day this honour was deeply cursed.

Now the question arises that what are the punishments given to such offenders. Definitely the punishment should be so severe that it should shake the roots of the offenders, the punishment should be so severe that no one in the future should ever dare to think of repeating the offence.

THE PREVENTION OF INSULTS OF NATIONAL HONOUR ACT 1971, which was formulated to safeguard the honour of National Emblems says that- Whoever in any public place within public view burns, mutilates, defaces, defiles, disfigures, destroys, tramples upon or (otherwise shows disrespect to or brings) into contempt (whether by words, either spoken or written, or by acts) the Indian National Flag or the Constitution of India or any part thereof, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which  may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.

Disrespect to National Flag is a disrespect to martyrs, disrespect to National leaders, disrespect to defense forces and to the every individual of the country.  Insult of the Country at National level. And for all this, the punishment of just three years of imprisonment and a small fine, is it really sufficient punishment mentioned in the Act.

Is this punishment sufficient enough to guard the National respect?
