National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) took the decision and transferred two senior faculty members who developed the teacher’s training manual which recommended the provision of same toilets for both girls and boys. The manual focused on the inclusion of transgender children in schools.

The manual Inclusion of Transgender Children in School Education: Concerns and Roadmap, was recently put up by NCERT on its website to educate and sensitise teachers towards the practices and strategies to make schools sensitive and inclusive for transgender and gender non-conforming students.It strangely recommended the provision of same toilets for both boys and girls and same uniforms, discontinuing practices that segregate children for various school activities based on their gender, inviting members of transgender community to speak on campus, among others.

Because of the notice given by NCPCR led by Priyank Kanoongo, NCERT dropped it’s teacher’s training manual where it recommended the provision of same toilets for both girls and boys. After the matter came out, NCPCR led by Priyank Kanoongo wrote down a notice of complaint to NCERT on 2nd of November. The notice was of the subject that read ” complaint against members of drafting committee of the teacher training manual and conspiring to traumatize students in name of gender sensitization. NCPCR also gave a time of 7 days to NCERT to give a response to the notice.
