Harish Rawat, a key member of the Congress Working Committee and often seen as the party face of Uttarakhand made a veiled attack on the senior leadership of Congress saying that he sometimes feels ‘it’s time for him to rest’.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the senior leader expressed strong displeasure and unhappiness over the state of affairs in the party, Harish Rawat said “the representatives of the leaders on whose directions I have to swim in the sea of elections are tying my hands and legs.

“Isn’t it a strange thing? Have to swim across the sea of electoral battle, but the organisational structure instead of lending a helping hand is obstructing and playing a negative role at most places,” Rawat tweeted.

He also referred to detractors as “crocodiles in the sea”, Harish Rawat also hinted at possible retirement from politics in the same series of tweets. “Now, a feeling often comes to my mind. Have had enough of politics. It is time to take rest!” he said in another tweet.

Lastly he confesses that he is in a “state of turmoil,” Rawat further says “Hope the New Year shows me the way. I am confident that Lord Kedarnath [God Shiva] will show me the way.”

Rawat is regarded as the Congress’ best hope in Uttarakhand, where the party has long struggled with factionalism. While the Congress party is yet to declare its CM face, many believe that the vote for Congress in this election will be for Rawat.
