Manish Tewari on Agnipath Scheme: Congress MP Manish Tewari has refused to sign the letter issued by the party opposing the Agnipath scheme. The Congress party was stunned by this stand of Manish Tewari on the protest letter on the Agneepath scheme of the Central Government for the Armed Forces Recruitment.

On Monday, just before the monsoon session of Parliament, when Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh gave a presentation to the members of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Defense about the ‘Agneepath scheme’ brought for military recruitment. At the same time, some MPs of the opposition demanded immediate withdrawal of this scheme. Let us tell you that even before this Congress MP Manish Tewari had praised the Agneepath scheme. The Congress MP had described this scheme as a step taken for the future of the country.

The memorandum has been signed by 6 people,

Tiwari had described the Agneepath scheme as a good step in the right direction for the central government army in view of the major change in the nature of modern warfare. Tiwari had said that at present you need a mobile army. You need to spend more on technology and weapons.

Opposition parties like Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), RJD, Trinamool Congress objected to the new recruitment scheme and said it should be withdrawn. He also submitted a written memorandum to the Defense Minister in which there has been a demand to reconsider this plan. The MPs who signed the memorandum are Shakti Singh Gohil, Rajni Patil (Congress), Supriya Sule (NCP), Saugata Roy and Sudip Bandopadhyay (Trinamool Congress) and AD Singh of RJD.
