What Is it?

AI refers to the reflection of human intelligence in machines that are designed to work like humans and replicate their actions.
The ideal tendency of AI is it’s ability to justify and take actions to get to the result.

Understanding AI

The first thing which comes to mind while hearing about AI is robots. May be this is just because we are so much prone to sci-fiction movies that our thinking has the reflection of the same.

AI is based on replicating human thinking/intelligence architecture, where it is able to learn, reason based on situation it is given as input, the input is defined/provided in such a way that a machine can easily use it perform simple to complex task.

When AI was just making it’s field, AI was known for it’s basic benchmarks such as recognizing charaters/words from a image, making some calculations. But nowadays this is taken as granted as we make progress in this field.

Area of AI

AI scope cannot be finite it can be an infinite journey. This is used in healthcare to quickly detect symptoms, diagnosing health issues. Other areas such as driver-less cars, banking industry – detecting unusual account activity, gaming industry etc.

Types of AI

AI can becategorized as weak and strong or basic & advanced.

Basic AI system is designed to carry out one particular job. This may include video games & assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri. You just have to ask the assistant a question & it answers it for you.

Advanced AI is designed to carry out the tasks considered to be human-like. These tend to be more complex and complicated systems. They are programmed to handle situations in which they may be required to problem solve without having a person intervene. These kinds of systems can be found in applications like self-driving cars or in hospital operating rooms.

Food for thought

The AI has been subject to various scutiny right from initial days. One is the idea that machines will become so highly developed that humans will not be able to keep up and they will take off on their own, redesigning themselves at an exponential rate.

Second is that machines can hack into people’s privacy and even be weaponized.

Third many people think how it may affect human employment. With many industries looking to automate certain jobs through the use of intelligent machinery, there is a concern that people would be pushed out of their jobs. Self-driving cars may remove the need for taxis and car-share programs, while manufacturers may easily replace human labor with AI enabled machines, making people’s skills more of no use.
