Assam Police has arrested two members of terrorist organization ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT)’ from Morigaon district. The names of these terrorists are Musadiq Hussain and Ikramul Islam. Morigaon district superintendent of police Aparna N has confirmed this action. The arrest took place on Monday (September 12, 2022). Both the terrorists are being interrogated.
According to media reports, Ikramul Imam is among the two arrested terrorists, who was caught from Naugaon in Assam. On the other hand, Hussain, the second suspect, was nabbed from Moribari area of Morigaon. According to Superintendent of Police Aparna, the police have sufficient evidence of the two terrorists being linked to ABT.
It is noteworthy that after getting information about the activities of not only Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) but Al Qaeda in the state, the anti-terrorist operation of Assam Police has increased. Earlier, two terrorists were arrested by the police from Barpeta district of Assam as well. Then during the investigation, his connection with Al Qaeda was also found.
In the last one month, the Assam Police has arrested more than 40 suspects, whose connections have been found to be with terrorists. Several suspects are still on the run, which the police are looking for. On 26 August also, a mufti named Hafizur Rahman was arrested by the Assam Police from a madrasa in Goalpara. After this arrest, the Chief Minister of Assam had also issued orders to take action against many illegal and anti-national education madrassas.
