During the pre-partition India, when British were ruling this undivided Sub continent, the ratio between Hindu and Muslim Population was like 73% to 24% approximately.
This statement and this statistics should be recorded in its historical reference, that this demographic distribution was unpalatable to Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Suhrawardy, who did every art of savagery and deceit to ensure a division of the Nation.
While Pakistan chose to become Islamic state in theory and practice, India became a republic with an inclusive distribution of Population. The Word Secular was not incorporated in the original preamble of the constitution. Rather it was inserted through a disputed 42nd amendment of the constitution in 1976. It is important to recall here, no debate took place on the floor of parliament, as opposition were either bundled into Jail or had fled for safety of their life. And thus oft repeated neo coined words secular and Socialistic were incorporated without following parliamentary procedure. The Supreme Court remained a mute spectator and helpless in these matters related to those authoritarian regimes in India.
Since 1947 to 2021, the demography has been sliding against the interest of Hindu. While Hindu advocates and practices population control in the national interest, appeasement to other sections of society continued unabated.
Today the demographic ratio between Hindu and Muslim population has changed at an unbelievable rate. As effectively India have no population control policy or strict advisory to contain the adverse impact of rising population of Muslim group on the national resource. Infact so much sensitivity is attached to the subject that any one merely asking such questions are termed as divisive or communal. No institution and pillar of democracy have audacity to discuss this truth today. So weak is our democratic values.
Hindu Population (in %) | Muslim Population (%) | |
1951 | 84.1% | 9.58% |
2011 | 79.8% | 14.28% |
Now imbalance in Hindu Muslim population is not a statistical issue, but it has consequences when wandering mind seek reference of some biting poignant historical incident. The fact that the religion art cultural and civilizational reference of these two religious groups connected beyond the boundaries of Nation India. It is despite the fact that Muslim of India are not outsider but are descendent of original resident of this land, yet the religious orientation have created a great gulf between the two. Separate personal law, separate provision in fundamental right, religious education system, by laws protecting the specific group interest termed as minority are abundant and ridiculing the right of Hindu Majority.
The Social, religious and political leadership from the time of independence have ensured this fissure turns into acrimonious division. Contention issues were not solved amicably instead the religious and cultural divide entailed into strident and vituperative dialogue.
Legislation like places of worship act 1991, which legalized the desecration and destruction of Hindu temples were enacted. Such regressive and divisive laws in its nature were also against the International norms of protecting the old monument and belief in its original format. And hence, today thousands of temples are awaiting to be released from illegal occupation. Illegal migration from Bangladesh and especially groups like Rohingya of Myanmar have further vitiated the entire community discourse.
The need for strong legislation like the NRC is the need of hours. Any delay in bringing such legislation and effectively repulsing this illegal immigration will be catastrophic to the interest of Nation, its resource and Hindu Society. The emerging imbalance in demography should be analyzed in reference to local exodus, selective killing, targeted rape of Kashmiri Hindu from Kashmir. Nearly three decades have passed, and Indian democratic institutions including the Supreme Court have proved its incompetence, helplessness in rehabilitating those Kashmir Hindu. They are refugees in their own country, a connotation of Stigma on Indian Constitution.
Time has come to introspect and write nationalistic narrative. We urgently require compulsive and comprehensive population policy. We must expel every illegal immigrant from this country. The CAA and NRC is need of Hour. A Strong willed government that can take on the lobby of anti-India forces decisively is needed. The demographic distribution at the time of independence should be the reference point similar to practice in developed and civilized nations like Singapore.
And most important the two words Secular and Socialist inserted into the constitution through 42nd amendment be removed. India needs the original constitution and it`s preamble not the adulterated and smuggled one.
