Is Putin losing? And why Putin’s defeat in Ukraine will make the world a better place?
Before Russia invaded Ukraine, media had speculated the invasion to last not more than 3 days with Ukraine capitulating, Zelenskyy fleeing the nation, Ukraine bring ruled by a Russian puppet dictator as in Belarus or Syria or Venezuela or Kazakhstan .
Today is Day 19 of the Russian invasion. Though Ukraine is being subjected to ruthless attacks, it is standing firm. But things have not gone in the way Putin would have desired. It is clear from the below facts:
- All major Ukrainian Cities are out of Putin’s control.
- Many Russian tanks, armored vehicles and aircrafts have been destroyed.
- Multiple Russian military convoys have been stopped on tracks.
- Many Russian soldiers are killed.
- There are rumors of Russia seeking help of Syrian mercenaries.
- US claims Russia to have been seeking China’s help.
Longer the war lasts, more are the chances of Putin being sucked to his own Afghanistan – which he can neither hold, nor he can leave.
Lets come to our next question, what will world gain if Putin loses.
- Oil Lobby will weaken: Whether it was communist dictators of USSR or Current dictator (Putin), they had made their fortunes from Oil. The oil lobby obstructs research being done on finding alternate sources of energy. If Putin loses, the lobby will get weak. The world will make a faster transition to a non-oil based fuel like say Fusion energy.
- Dictators will lose: The corrupt, monopolistic oil lobby has propped up corrupt dictators everywhere. Few examples are Belarus, Syria, Venezuela, Kazakhstan etc. Once the Oil Lobby gets weak, then Dictators will stand to lose and repression in the entire world will go down.
- Corruption will reduce: The Dictators propped up by USSR or Russia or China are extremely corrupt. Putin himself is extremely corrupt. Once he loses, he will lose face and hence corruption will reduce.
- Oil Cartel will crumble: We have seen the major oil producing countries are ruled by dictators. The dictators have formed a cartel (called OPEC+) and control the Oil prices and lead a lavish life on the money of others. With the strongest among them i.e. Putin weakening, the cartel will reduce in strength.
- Wars will reduce: It is seen that Dictators typically start wars to divert peoples’ attention form their corruption scandals. Many Russian dictators have done the same. With the dictators getting weakened, such wars will reduce and world will be a better place to live.
Hence, it is extremely important Russia loses. Just as everyone in world progressed after the collapse of USSR, same should happen with the fall of Putin.
