Arvind Kejriwal has never stayed behind in praising his Aam Aadmi Party Government for improving the education system of Delhi. Every where he speaks, he points out at the improvised condition of government schools in Aam Aadmi party’s government in Delhi. But his Education model for Delhi got exposed after it came in the public domain that 824 out of 1,027 schools in Delhi do not have a headmaster. On 12th of April, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) under the guidance of Priyank Kanoongo asked the Delhi Government of Kejriwal for an explanation over 824 vacant posts of principals in Delhi government schools. In a letter to Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev, the apex child rights body said a team led by chairperson Priyank Kanoongo visited several schools in the national capital and found discrepancies with regard to the infrastructure and other aspects. It further added that most of the schools visited by the teams did not have a Head of School (HoS), and the post was vacant.
The NCPCR said its team led by its chairperson visited a number of schools in Delhi and found discrepancies with respect to infrastructure and other aspects and found that most of the schools don’t have a headmaster appointed. The Letter said “It also came to the commission’s notice that in most of the schools visited by the team, the post of head of school (HoS) was found to be vacant”.Chairperson of NCPCR Priyank Kanoongo stated that the head of the school’s role is vital to ensure that the school has a positive learning environment plus a caring and inclusive atmosphere. Their absence could also lead to safety and security issues for children, she said.
“Further, as per the Schedule given in RTE Act, 2009 outlining the norms and standards for schools, for classes 6 to 8, where admission of children is above one hundred, there shall be a full-time head-teacher in the school,” the NCPCR, which is the monitoring authority of the Right To Education (RTE) Act, said.
