Kerala High Court on 2nd of March upheld the ban imposed on Malyalam TV channel MediaOne TV which had connections with Islamist outfit Jamaat-e-Islami. The decision to uphold the ban was taken by the division bench of Kerala High Court comprising Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chali.

Earlier the Union Government has imposed ban on the media channel MediaOne TV because it had links with Islamist outfits and can cause security problems in the country. The Malyalam TV channel MediaOne TV then reached the courts. On February 8, a single-judge bench consisting of Justice N Nagaresh had upheld the ban imposed by the Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry citing security reasons.

Because of the same reason of security concerns the Kerala High Court also upheld the order. Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited is owned by Islamist outfit Jamaat-e-Islami, which runs MediaOne TV. So the channels has direct links with Islamists which are threat to Bharat.
