After Minneapolis elected officials voted to defund the police, the Minneapolis Police Department offers residents some tips on how to deal with the city’s recent surge in violent crimes.
“Do not argue or fight with the criminal,’ police said in a July 28 letter to residents. “Do what they say. Your safety is most important.”
Police say that carjackings and robberies have skyrocketed in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests. According to KSTP, some victims have been maced, dragged, assaulted and some threatened with a gun.
The liberal-leaning Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously in June to replace the city’s police department with a “department of community safety and violence prevention, which will have responsibly for public safety services prioritizing a holistic, public health-oriented approach.”
To say the Democrat-run city of Minneapolis is failing on this point would be an understatement.
