Similarities between Allah and Iblees (Part 2 of 2)

Here are some more similarities that are present between Allah and his once most loving and obedient angel Iblees, who later had a tremendous fall from grace when he refused to bow in Sajda to Adam.  This led to Iblees getting the position of Shetan who is constantly trying to lure humans into making grave sins. Seven similarities which are supported by Quranic verses and root words used in these verses were discussed in the previous article, the link for which

8) The 3 words which are the basis of the phrase ‘to forget’ are Nun-Sin-Ya.  Shetan carries large blame for causing people ‘to forget’ good deeds, to forget Namaz, to forget reading Quran, to forget reading Dua for stepping into the toilet or consummating the marriage, as his intention is that Momin should have lesser good deeds and become easier prey for him.

“And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversion. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people”. (6:68 Quran)

“And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, “Mention me before your master.” But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years”. (12:42 Quran)

Similar evidence is present in verse 58:19 and 18:63.

Allah has given a warning to the nonbeliever that he will ‘forget’ them on judgment day and has used the same three words Noon Saad Ha to state this in the following verse

“So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses.” (7:51)

“The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites – it is they who are the defiantly disobedient.” (9:67)

“And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient.” (59:19)

The same expression is used in verses 32:14, 20:126, 45:34 etc.

9) One of the best and most effective tools used by Allah is the element of fear.  Kha-Waw-Fa (khawf). This can well be described as the joining glue of Islam which prevents the followers from wandering away. The sword of Khawf is held over the head of all followers and pulls at them like string puppets are pulled in the subscribed direction. Fear is instilled through Allah taking tests of all acts and all lacking of acts.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” (2:155-56)

Through Khawf, Allah sends warning signs for Momins to not stray from the path of Islam (Takhawafin), and also threatens his most beloved creation

“And [remember, O Muhammad], when We told you, “Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people.” And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur’an. And We threaten them, but it increases them not except in great transgression” (17:60)

“They will have canopies of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allah threatens His servants. O My servants, then fear Me”. (39:16)

“O you who have believed, Allah will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that Allah may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that – for him is a painful punishment.” (5:94)

Allah ensures that his believers should Fear him at all times as he commands Momineen to remember him “humbly and in fear”

“And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech – in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless.” (7:205)

Allah’s other creation, the angels, are also afraid of him and exist in fear of his wrath (Khifatihi)

“And the thunder exalts [ Allah ] with praise of Him – and the angels [as well] from fear of Him – and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills while they dispute about Allah ; and He is severe in assault.” (13:13)

Even Muhammad used to fear of a painful doom if he was to ever decry Allah through his acts and lack of them.

“”Say, (O Muhamad) “Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day.”” (6:15)

“”And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, “Bring us a Qur’an other than this or change it.” Say, [O Muhammad], “It is not for me to change it on my own accord. I only follow what is revealed to me. Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day.”: (10:15)

A similar predicament is revealed for Muhammad in verse 39:13 etc.

We found it a trifle hard to believe, but it is mentioned in Quran that even Shetan is enabled to evoke fear in the hearts of the Momineen, so Allah is sharing his empirical throne in terms of evoking fear, with the most loathed shetan. And the words used here are the same 3 words: Kha-Waw-Fa

“That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers.” (3:175)

10) The element of Command is identified with the letters Hamza Mim Ra (Amr). In many verses which are a part of Chapter 16 Al Nahl, Allah describes how he is the Commander of all

“The command of Allah is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him. He sends down the angels, with the inspiration of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], “Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me.”” .” (16:1-2)

Also, evidence of Allah’s command and its efficacy is present in verses 9:48, 10:24, 66:6, 17:16, 13:21 etc.

In the same breath, Allah describes Shetan as issuing commands using the same expression Amr

“O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.” (2:168-69)

“Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (2:268)

Similar evidence is present in 4:119 and 24:21.

We have tried to stress the importance of using the same root words to describe various virtues of Allah and Shetan in Quran. A linguist or a researcher would understand that language plays an important role in ascertaining hierarchy and outlines the position held by different individuals. The use of same vernacular for both Shetan and Allah s virtues in Quran can only mean one of the two things; either the author of this book was lacking in the knowledge of this important aspect, or he was inadvertently attempting to outline the oneness of the two personalities.
