विषय: भारत की प्राथमिक गणित शिक्षा में सुधार हेतु
महोदय,
नमस्ते! मेरा नाम जोनाथन जे क्रैब्ट्री है – मैं एक प्राथमिक गणित रीसर्चर एवं इतिहासकार हूँ तथा मेल्बर्न (ऑस्ट्रेलिया) में रहता हूँ। मैं जनवरी १९८३ से नयी और उन्नत प्राथमिक गणित शिक्षा को विकसित करने में कार्यरत हूँ। मुख्यतः मैं प्रमाणित और बेहतर पाठ्यक्रम के सुझाव प्रस्तुत करता हूँ जो भारतीय गणित को पढ़ाना सरल और सही बनाता है।
कुछ दिनों पहले ५३१ उन लोगों पर किए गए सर्वे जो मेरे शोध से परिचित हैं उनमें ९८.५ % लोगों ने ब्रह्मगुप्त के गणित को कक्षाओं में पढ़ाने का समर्थन किया है। क्यूँकि इसकी मदद से कक्षा ३ के बच्चे भी एक लाख से बड़ी संख्या की गणना और नेगेटिव (ऋणात्मक) संख्याओं का आनन्द उठा सकते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त छह हजार चार सौ भारतीयों ने भारतीय गणित को निचली कक्षाओं में पढ़ाए जाने की याचिका पर हस्ताक्षर किया है।

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Having initially studied economics at the University of Melbourne, Jonathan J. Crabtree is an autodidact, studying the history of mathematics since 1983. In 1968 at age seven, Jonathan J. Crabtree noticed a 398-year-old problem with his teacher’s explanation of mathematics. India’s zero was missing from England’s 1570 definition of multiplication. Having been perplexed by this and other maths education errors during his school years, at age 21 Crabtree found himself in a hospital facing bleak news. If he moved, he might never walk again! With both his dreams and spine shattered, he prayed for a miracle and promised to fix maths if he ever walked again.
Today, elementary maths historian and www.podometic.in founder Jonathan J. Crabtree is a guest lecturer at schools, universities and mathematics conferences. Having reviewed writings in Latin, Greek, Arabic, Sanskrit and other languages, his provocative presentations reveal how the pedagogies arising from foundations of Ancient Indian mathematics are often faster, simpler, more intuitive and better connected to the laws of physics than many western pedagogies followed today.
